The World Food Programme says the Middle East conflict is still raising fuel, transport, and food costs, and in Somalia it now estimates an additional 2.5 million people could be pushed into hunger in 2026.[2][4] UN reporting this month also says Somalia has moved into the highest-risk hunger category, with famine concerns flagged in Burhakaba District as drought, conflict, and poor harvests worsen the situation.[5] WFP warns that supplies of specialized nutritious food for malnourished children in Somalia could run out as early as July, while the agency faces an 89% funding gap in the country.[1]
